Newcastle is a mecca for backpackers as there is everything they could possibly want and so much more all on their doorstep! There is loads of fun and excitement to be had in Newcastle and with awesome hostels to book into that cost next to nothing, you will soon agree that it will be one of your number destinations that you visit. Many backpackers choose to base themselves right in the heart of the city so that all that they need is within easy reach, and with plenty of hostels to select from in the CBD that offer excellent dorm accommodation and onsite facilities as well as fun entertainment you simply can’t go past them. But you can also find hostels as well as other types of accommodation such as hotels and motels that also have rather well priced rooms in the outer suburbs of Newcastle or along the beachfront. You can also book into one of the caravan parks if you wish to pitch a ten or pull up in your campervan or motorhome for a couple of nights. The staff where ever you decide to book into are always on hand to arrange a number of great tours that you can join. From sky diving adventures, hang gliding, horse riding, surfing lessons, scuba diving trips, sailing cruises, fishing charters, mountain biking or even winery tours to the Hunter Valley, the list is endless when it comes to the variety of tours that you can do. There are four wheel driving trips where you visit shipwrecks and go sand dunning, eco tours, day trips and sightseeing tours. Whale watching is always popular during the months of July and October so why not book a seat for yourself on one of the charters that make their way out to witness the awesome spectacle of the humpback whales at play. And if you just can’t get enough of the water then go exploring Lake Macquarie region where there are plenty of water activities that include kayaking, canoeing, fishing, swimming and much more! It is a pristine area that is well worth a look! Newcastle has some of the best weather around so why not hit the beach for the day for a spot of sunbaking, swimming, surfing or parasailing and then return back to your hostel for some games and entertainment that the staff readily organise for your enjoyment. And then if you wish to go on into the night there are plenty of night spots to hit and pubs, clubs and lounges to have a couple of drinks in. There are a number of ways to get to Newcastle which include by air, coach, train or car! Many rental companies offer a range of different cars if you prefer to self drive, and with regular flights that come into the airport you can arrive quickly if you wish to. But there is always the preferred option of the train or bus as many different services make their way to the bus and train stations throughout the week and many of the hostels can arrange to meet you when you arrive. Newcastle is a great place for all backpackers to visit so why don’t you make it high on your priority list of destinations to see while making your way along the coast of New South Wales. |
